Judge Raymond S. Childress graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University in December, 1972 with a B.A. in History. He attended Loyola University Law School in New Orleans graduating in May, 1979. Judge Childress’ practice was varied and included insurance defense, plaintiff personal injury, domestic relations, real estate, criminal defense, and two years as an Assistant District Attorney in St. Tammany Parish.
Judge Childress ran unopposed for the District Court bench in 1998 and was sworn in as a
District Judge, Division A, for the 22 JDC in October, 1998. He served as Chief Judge of the
22nd JDC from 2007-2009 during which time the Family Court was formed.
He is a member of the Louisiana District Judges Association Executive Committee and is presently serving as vice-president of the organization. He was instrumental in the formation of the Drug Court Judges Association having served as a Drug Court Judge for Washington Parish for 6 years.
He and his wife have resided in Folsom for 27 years. They have five children and five grandchildren.
